Tenterfield terrier Breed Information

This breed was originally developed in England, during the 1800s. This breed was used as farm dogs and also hunting dogs to hunt smaller animals. They share quite a good resemblance with Jack Russell terrier, but are entirely different from that breed. They are small in size, but are muscular in appearance. The body of this breed is constructed in equal proportions. Their tail is usually docked right after their birth. They have wedge shaped head and also high set dropped or V shaped ears. They have strong and also square shaped muzzle. They have strong and also medium length neck. Their teeth are set in scissor bite. They have round and also compact feet, with arched toes. Their tail is usually docked after their birth. The coat covering the body of this breed is short and also smooth in texture. They are available in black, tan and also liver combinations. This breed is powerful and strong. They are friendly and also calm in nature. They are basically working dogs, and are hence very energetic and also active. They are confident and also fast learners. They are easy to handle and also train. They should be trained by calm, gentle and also a firm leader. They donot respond well to harsh treatments. They can be aggressive around non canine pets; hence they should be properly socialized. They are gentle and also calm when around children. They love to play when around them. They love to stay close to their master all the time. It is better that thy stay inside the house, rather than outside in a kennel. They are great companion dogs and if trained properly, they can be good household pets. The average height of this breed is 26 cm to 28 cm and the average weight of this breed is 13 kg to 15 kg. They can adjust easily in an apartment, if they are provided with sufficient amount of exercise. They love to exercise, and hence they should be taken out daily for walks and also play. When they are properly exercised, they become calm and also well behaved. The average life expectancy of this breed is 12 years to 15 years.
