Siberian Husky Breed Information

Siberian Husky was developed in the eastern part of Siberia. This breed was used as sledge pullers, heard dogs and also as watchdogs. They were also used a working dogs in the earlier days. This breed was recognized in the year 1930. They are compact, and also very strong. Their head is medium in size, with proportionate muzzle. Their ears are erect and also triangular in shape. Their teeth join at scissor bite. They have long shape with a sickle shaped curve in the end. They have large and hairy foot. The hairs between the toes of this bred, protects them from cold snow. The coat covering the body of this breed is of medium length. They are available in colours varying from snow white to charcoal black. Their coat is very thick, which helps them to withstand the cold temperature of Siberia. They are very gentle as well as calm in their nature. They are playful and also energetic. They get easily attached to their families. They easily socialize, with adults and also kids of the family. They are calm and friendly when with stranger and are also very playful with kids. They are smart and also easy to train. They should have a gentle as well as strong minded owner, or else they will be difficult to train. At certain times this breed can get mischievous and wilful. This should be avoided by proper training. They should not be left alone in small spaces, and then they might get bored and become destructive. They can be gentle towards other pets if they are properly socialized. The average height and weight of male Siberian huskies are, 54 cm to 61 cm and 21 kg to 28 kg respectively. In case of females the average weight and height are 52 cm to 57 cm and 17 kg to 23 kg. They are not suitable to live in an apartment, as they need plenty of exercise to stay active and also happy. They are recommended to be brought up in cold climates, as they have thick coats on them. They need to brushed and combed daily. This breed is prone to health conditions like eye infections, ectopy and also hip dysplasia. They can also be affected by PRO and OFP. The average life expectancy of this breed is 12 years to 15 years.
