Pont-Audemer Spaniel Breed Information

This breed was originally developed in France, in around the 19th century. This breed was traditionally used as hunting dogs. They were bred from; Irish water spaniels and English water spaniels. They are today used as watch dogs, guard dogs and also as companion dogs. This breed is medium in size, and very compact. This breed has low hanging ears, which is covered with long hairs. Their teeth are either set in scissor bite, or in some cases it is set in level bite. Their feet are small and round, which makes them swift. They have an oval shaped face, with a long muzzle, which is narrow towards the end. They have long tail, which is also completely covered with long curly or straight hairs. The body of this breed is covered long, wavy and also smooth coat. The whole body is covered either with straight or with curly hairs. This breed is available in white and also brown colour. They are tough and also gentle reed. They are independent minded, and are sometimes hard to house break. They are loving and affectionate towards their master. They love to play around with children. But be careful not to leave the kid alone with this breed, as they might accidently hurt them. This breed is good swimmers. They are excellent trackers and have a great sense of smell. They can get aggressive towards strangers and also other unfamiliar animals. This should be avoided by providing your pets with proper socializing lessons, from an initial stage. They love to stay close to the family, and also spent time with the family. They can be over protective and also stubborn at times, which should be avoided with proper training. They should be trained by determined and also calm trainers. The average height and weight of a healthy Pont-Audemer Spaniel is 50 cm to 58 cm and 20 kg to 27 kg. This breed is suitable in apartments, but the masters should make sure that, they are provided with proper amount of exercise. They should be taken out for daily walks and also occasional swims. They have different grooming requirements. They should be brushed daily and also trimmed occasionally. This breed s prone to health conditions like Alopecia, and also hypothyroidism. The average life expectancy of a healthy Pont-Audemer Spaniel is 15 years.
