Moscow watch dog Breed Information

This breed was originally developed in Moscow. They were bred to fulfil the purpose of a strong and large dog. This breed was bred from, Saint Bernard and Caucasian Ovtcharka. They are both ferocious and gentle at the same time. They are almost an unknown breed outside the eastern part of Europe. This breed is massive in size and also has a broad body. They are powerful and also strong. Their tail is long as well as broad in appearance. They have muscular legs and also neck. They have a broad head, and high set ears, which is medium in size. Their teeth form scissor bite, and in some cases level bite is also seen. The coat covering the body of this breed is a double coat and is medium in length. The coat is thick and also hard in appearance. They are available in a combination of white, brown and also orange. Their face is partially black in colour forming a mask. This breed is gentle and also calm in nature. They are loving and affectionate to their master and family; especially towards children. They are good guard dogs, and also very protective towards their family and also their master. They are very keen to please their master, and are hence easy to train and also to handle. They are always alert and watchful, but are friendly towards strangers and also other animals. But if the family or their master is threatened by any means they suddenly become ferocious and also fearless. The average height of a healthy male Moscow watchdog is 66 cm to 72 cm, and in case of females it is 64 cm to 70 cm. the average weight of male dogsare49 kg to 70 kg, and the average weight of female dogs are 45 kg to 67 kg. They are not suitable for apartments, as they require vast area to run around and burn their energy. Their long haired coat should be brushed and also combed every day in order to avoid shedding. This breed is highly prone to hip dysplasia. The average life expectancy of this breed is 10 years to 12 years.
