Miniature Fox Terrier Breed Information

This breed was originally developed in Australia, in the year 1800. They were descended from Fox terriers. They are light weight and also very swift in their movement. They were mainly used for hunting purposes, for hunting small animals like rabbits and rodents. This breed is very small in size, and is also very graceful. They are very good hunters and are very determined. They have very erect ears and are also an average head. Their feet are oval shaped. Their tail is usually docked right after birth. They are available in different colours varying from tan white and also black combinations. They are energetic active and also very fearless. They are very alert and also watchful, which makes them good choice as a watch dog. They are also very good hunters. They are usually calm and also very friendly towards children. They also get along with other house hold pets, but are careful that they should not be kept close to pet hamsters and also rabbits. They can get very aggressive, when they are around strangers, hence they should be properly trained and also socialized from an early age. The average height of a healthy Miniature fox terrier is 26 cm to 42 cm, and the average height among this breed is 3 kg to 5 kg. They enjoy both urban as well as country side life. They can easily adapt themselves in an apartment provided that they get their daily dose of exercise. You should be careful that they are not tied to a small space, if so they can become very aggressive. They should be taken out for walks and also jogs. They love to play with kids, and playing for this breed ca also is considered as exercise. They also like playing hide and seek and also other intellectual games, in which they can use their hunting instincts. They require very less grooming. Their coats have very short hair, and hence they are easy to handle. They should be brushed and also combed once every day. They do not require trimmings but their nails should be clipped once in a while. They are generally very healthy breed. The average life expectancy of this breed is 10 years to 14 years.
