Golden retriever Breed Information

This breed was originally developed in Scotland, around the middle of 19t century. They were mainly used for the hunting of wildfowl in the earlier days. They were used as retrievers. They were great in retrieving games both in water and also in land. This breed was recognised by the America kennel club in the year 1925. They are proportionally built and are large in size. Their skull is broad and also well defined. They have straight, smooth and strong muzzle. Their neck is long as well as lean, and this breed is deep chested. They have short and lo thick tail. Their tail is always left natural and is never docked. The coat covering the body of this breed is smooth as well as sleek. Their ears are low hung and are covered with long hairs. They are considered as the most friendly and affectionate breeds. They are very confident smart and intelligent. They are fast learners and hence are easy to train and handle. They are excellent companions for kids and are very playful with them. They love the attention and care they receive from the family and also their master. They are very sensitive breed hence they should never be submitted for harsh treatment, they are usually friendly and also affectionate towards strangers, unless and until they possess any kind of danger to the family or their master. They are very keen to please their master. Even though they are calm breed, they should be socialized they can adjust with surroundings and also people. They are protective of their family and master. Even though they are not perfect guard dogs, they tend to defend their master at all possible occasions. The average height and weight of a healthy male golden retriever is 58 cm to 61 cm, and 29 kg to 34 kg respectively. In case of females of this breed, the average height and weight is 55 cm to 58 cm and 27 kg to 32 kg respectively. They can easily adjust in an apartment, if they are given proper exercise. They should be taken out for walk and also swims regularly. They only require minimum grooming. They should be brushed and also combed daily in order to avoid matting. The average life span of this breed is 10 years to 12 years.
