Curl coated retriever Breed Information

Curly coated retriever is one of the oldest bred of retrievers existing in the world now. This breed was originally developed in England and was used mainly as retrievers. This breed was used as hunting dogs, gun dogs and also as game retrievers. They were mainly used to hunt ducks and also quail. They were brought to America in the year 1905. This breed was recognized by the American Kennel Club in the year 1924. They were used for hunting, retrieving, watching, guarding and also for retrieving. This breed is very large and also massive in size. This breed is usually tall, than being long. They have very long head and also a wide skull. The teeth of this breed forms scissor bite. Their ears are small and also hanging. This breed is deep chested. They have long tail, which are covered thick and also dark curls. Their tail is never docked. The declaws of this breed is usually removed. The coat covering the body of this breed is thick and also water resistant. They are available in liver and also black colours. The average height of a healthy curl coated retriever is 63 cm to 69 cm, and the average height of this breed is 29 kg to 36 kg. This breed is very loyal and also eager to please it master. They are athletic and very powerful. They are aggressive and also protective around strangers and also strange animals. They can be stubborn and also might show some behavioural disorders, in order to avoid these kinds of behaviours, it is important that, they should be properly trained from a puppy hood stage. In order to avoid the aggressive behaviour towards strangers they should be properly socialized. They are very protective of the family and also their master, and hence might also act fearless at times. This breed is more suitable in rural areas, where they have lot of space to run around and play. This breed is highly prone to hip dysplasia, eye problems and also skin infections. They are easy to groom, and only requires minimum grooming. They should be brushed once every day. The average lifespan of this breed is 8 years to 12 years.
