Chilean fox Terrier Breed Information

This breed was originally developed in Chile, and is believed to have descended from English Fox Terrier. They were initially developed somewhere around in the 19th century. They were used to hunt rodents and also were used as house hold companions. This breed is also known as Chilean terrier, and Chilean rat terrier. This breed has quite a good resemblance to Jack Russell terriers and also Smooth fox terriers. This breed is available in both small size, and also medium size. This breed is muscular and is well built. This breed has a short tail, which is usually docked right after their birth. In some cases the tail of the breed forms a natural bob. They have a long muzzle which is narrow towards the end. The ears of this breed are small and erect, and slightly hanging towards the tip, creating a fold. The coat covering the body of this breed is short in length. They are sleek and smooth in texture. They are available in the combination of black, tan and also white. This breed is intelligent and smart. They are very gentle and also calm in nature. They are easily attached to the family, and form a close bond towards its master. They are very loyal and also devoted towards their master and family. They are friendly and affectionate towards children and they love to spent time with them. They are highly energetic and also very active. They might get aggressive towards strangers and also other animals. This should be avoided with proper socialization from an early age. This breed tends to become protective and fearless on certain times. They should be properly trained by a calm and also firm trainer. The average height and weight of a healthy male Chilean fox terrier is, 31.75 cm to 38 cm and 4 kg to 7 kg. In case of female Chilean fox terriers, the average height and weight is 27 cm to 33 cm and 3 kg to 6 kg. This breed is perfect as apartment dogs, as long as they are sufficiently exercised. This breed, even though is small in size, is very energetic, and also active, hence they need their daily exercise. They are easy to groom, as they only require daily brushing to keep their coat smooth and silky. They are generally healthy, and the average lifespan of this breed 12 years to 15 years.
