Chihuahua is the smallest dog in the world, and also the oldest breed of dog in the continent of America. This breed was originally developed in Mexico. This breed is very small in size, and has a long, slender body. They have round shaped head, and a short muzzle. The ears of this breed are large, and are erected. They have long tail, and are in the shape of a sickle. The coat covering the body of this breed is short and wavy textures. In some cases the coat can be flat and also long. They are available in different colours varying from, fawn, white, sand, black, sable, and also white. They are gentle and also calm breed. They are brave, fearless, and also courageous. They are strong minded breed. They are very loyal and also devoted to their master. They can be aggressive towards to strangers, so it is important that they are well socialized. They can also be aggressive towards other unfamiliar animals, but are calm towards other house hold pets. They are great with children, but be careful that the kids do not hurt this breed. They can be stubborn and also jealous some time. They can be protective and also stubborn at certain times. The average height of a healthy Chihuahua is 15 cm to 23 m, and the average weight of this breed is 1 kg to 3 kg. This breed is perfect for apartment life, but they also require daily exercise. This breed needs adequate amount of exercise, even though they are small in size. Appropriate exercise, will help to keep the dog mentally and physically stable. They require only minimum grooming. They should be brushed and combed daily. Their ears should be checked for any signs of infection. They should be bathed once every month, and occasionally their body should be wiped out with a wet cloth to remove dirt from their coat. This breed is generally very healthy, but is occasionally prone to infections and also hip dysplasia. This breed has a long life and the average life span of a healthy Chihuahua is 15 years, and in some cases it can be more than 50 years.
