Central Asian Shepherd Breed Information

This breed is believed to have developed somewhere near to Russia. They were used a guard dogs by nomadic people. They were also used to protect live stocks. They are rarely seen outside Central Asia Republic. This breed is believed to have been existing for the last 4,000 years. This breed is massive in size, and is also very muscular. Their tails are usually docked and ears are cropped, after their birth. They have a long body. The coat covering the body of this breed can either be long or short. They have large chest and also rugged body muscles. They have folding and also wrinkle covering their face. This breed is very calm and also gentle in nature. They were used as herding dogs in the earlier days, but now this breed is also used as family companions. They are friendly and playful towards children, but can be aggressive if they are hurt. They are loud barkers and hence are not suitable for urban life. They should be properly socialized as they can become aggressive around strangers and also unfamiliar animals. They are not perfect choice for in experienced owners. They should be trained by strong willed and also calm trainers, or else they might become stubborn and also dominating. The average height and weight of a healthy male Central Asian Shepherd is 65 cm to 79 cm and 55 kg to 80 kg respectively. In case of female the average height and weight are 60 cm to 69 cm and 40 kg to 65 kg. They are not good choice as an apartment pet. They will do best in a country side, where you have a flock to herd. If they are not being used as working dogs, make sure that they get their daily exercise. They should be taken for walks and also jogs. This breed only requires minimum grooming. They should be brushed and also combed daily to avoid skin infections. They should be bathed once in every moth. This breed is mainly prone to health conditions such as hip and elbow dysplasia, eye infections, eating disorders and also skin infections. The average life span of this breed is 12 years to 14 years.
