Bullmastiff Breed Information

This breed was developed in England, from bull dogs and mastiffs, in 1795. They were used as trackers, and also as hunting dogs. They are now used as companion dogs, and also as guardian dogs. They are very strong and also powerfully built. Their skull is wide and also broad in shape. They have a long and also deep muzzle. Their teeth are set in scissor bite. They have small and also wide V shaped ears. They have high set tail, which is tapering towards the end. The coat covering the body of this breed is harsh and also rough, and are available in different varieties of colours varying from, brindle, red and also black colours. This breed is very alert and watchful, and is perfect choice as guard dog. They are calm, gentle, loving and also affectionate in nature. They are very fearless and also brave. They are friendly as well as calm towards children, but might accidently hurt them if left alone. If not properly trained, this breed might get dominating at times. They should be trained by strong willed but also calm leader. If they are properly socialized, bull mastiffs will have no problem in adjusting with other household pets. They might also get aggressive around strangers. They are not recommended for in experienced dog owners. The average height and weight of a healthy male Bull mastiff is 63 cm to 70 cm and 50 kg to 60 kg respectively. In case of female bull mastiffs, the average height and weight is 61 cm to 65 cm and 45 kg to 54 kg respectively. They can easily adjust in apartment, if they are given sufficient exercise. They cannot with stand in extreme cold and also extreme hot climate. They should be taken out regularly for long walks and also swims. They should be let off the leash occasionally in a safe place. Their coat is harsh and rough, which makes it easy to groom. They should be brushed and also combed regularly. Their ears as well as eyes should be cleaned an also checked daily, for any signs of infections. This breed is prone to health conditions like hip dysplasia, cancer, tumour, and also PRA. The average life expectancy of this breed is 10 year or less than that in some cases.
